Summer school cancelled

We have now received confirmation from UKAEA senior management that Culham will not be able to host the summer school due to social distancing measures.

It’s with a heavy heart that the directors announce the cancellation of the Culham Plasma Physics Summer School for 2020.

If you are a student who has paid for registration or accommodation, Andrew Wise will be in contact shortly to process your refunds.

We would like to thank you for your support of the school, and we hope to see you all next year.

The aim of the Summer School is to provide an introduction to the fundamental principles of plasma physics, together with a broad understanding of its fields of application. We assume no previous knowledge of the subject, but familiarity with electromagnetism and applied mathematics at first degree level will be helpful. The course is directed and supervised by Dr. Joanne Flanagan and Dr. Michael Fitzgerald and is co-ordinated by Mr. Andrew Wise.

Lecturers are drawn from the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE), the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) together with leading European universities. All are renowned experts in their fields.

Students must be over 18 to attend the summer school and generally will be in their final year of undergraduate or first year of post graduate study.
